New posters for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie from Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, based on the best-selling Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time game.

The posters show the two main characters of the film, The Prince “Dastan” (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) and the mysterious princess Tamina (played by Gemma Arterton). As you can see above and to the right, the posters seem to fit the mood and feel of the videogame perfectly.

The movie also stars Sir Ben Kingsley as Nizam, Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, and Gísli Örn Garðarsson as The Vizier. It is being directed by Mike Newell, and is set for release on May 28, 2010 as one of next Summer’s biggest films.

The premise of the film has Dastan playing a street urchin in 6th century Persia. After showing valor in battle, he is adopted by the king as his heir, so the king’s two sons will not fight over the throne. He teams up with Princess Tamina to rescue the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that controls time, from the hands of the villainous nobleman, Nizam.
